Tom Thumb

When J.R. Bost and Bob Cullum bought their first local chain of grocery stores in 1948 and established Tom Thumb, they worked hard to transform it into, which at the time, was a new concept of supermarkets. Their persistence paid off; customers enjoyed having more and better options, and they often turned to Tom Thumb stores rather than to the bigger competitors. The stores continued to prosper through the 1950s and 1960s, and they won big in the 1970s when they acquired Page Drugs, combining grocery items and prescription drugs at the same store for the first time. Another first occurred in 1997 when Tom Thumb introduced the ability to shop for groceries online. Head to a Tom Thumb store today, and you'll enjoy the same service and selection that's fueled its success over the last 70 years.
